Each year, it seems as if retailers and consumers begin thinking about the holiday season earlier and earlier. As part of the POPSUGAR Insights Q3 retail-apparel study, we wanted to learn when women typically begin their holiday gift spending.
Overall, 1/4 of women begin their holiday shopping on or around Black Friday, which is Friday, Nov. 28, this year. Twenty-four percent of women plan to begin their holiday shopping shortly thereafter, once December begins. Seventeen percent of women plan to get a head start on their holiday shopping by beginning on or around Halloween, and a very impressive 13% of women had already begun by the time we surveyed them in early August. Eight percent of women typically begin their holiday shopping on Cyber Monday, which is Monday, Dec. 1, this year, and 5% get started on or around Labor Day, which was Monday, Sept. 1.
