6 in 10 Millennial Women Plan Apparel Holiday Purchases

This year, millennial women are seeking to purchase gifts within a mix of traditional holiday gift categories while also exploring new ways to surprise and delight their friends and family with unique experiences. As part of the POPSUGAR Insights 2017 Holiday Report, we asked 3,000 US women to tell us about the items they plan to purchase this holiday season.

Overall, 61% of millennial women plan to purchase apparel and accessories this holiday season, with younger millennials between the ages of 18 and 24 being 11% more likely to do so. Toys and games rank second overall (50%), followed by beauty and personal care products (37%), electronics and computers (32%), and food or liquor (27%).

Over 1/3 of millennial women plan to eschew traditional gifts and instead purchase experiences for their friends and family this holiday season. In this context, experiences include purchasing event tickets, dining events, or other types of unique experiences. Older female millennials, between the ages of 25 and 34, are 14% more likely than younger millennials to purchase experiences as holiday gifts.
