Is it better to give or to receive? According to the results from the POPSUGAR Insights Q3 retail-apparel study, women love giving during the holidays. We asked women how much they spend on apparel and accessory purchases during a typical holiday season, and nine in 10 women purchase apparel or accessories as gifts for others during the holidays.
Digging deeper into the results, 90% of women purchase clothes, shoes, or accessories for others, with 51% of women spending between $100 and $499 on gifts for others and 18% spending over $500 on gifts for their friends, family, or others. Only 11% of women said that they do not purchase apparel or accessory gifts for others.
Focusing on the recent trend of self-gifting, we found that 51% of women spend over $100 on apparel or accessory gifts on themselves. Forty-two percent of women spend between $100 and $499 on gifts for themselves, with 9% splurging and spending over $500 on themselves. Twenty-four percent of women spend less than $100 on themselves, and 26% abstain and do not purchase apparel or accessory gifts for themselves.
