Today's women are smart consumers. They often research products they are interested in purchasing. From reviews on blogs to YouTube channels, women utilize these new resources to help them make decisions about items they'll love or never buy.
When I create my video reviews or tutorials, I have this woman in mind. My most successful video to date is my Brooch Bouquet Tutorial. I created this video for women who were in the same predicament as me. I was a bride on a budget who fell in love with brooch bouquets but couldn't pay the massive amounts some retailers were asking for. Since posting that video, so many women have commented about how I helped them achieve something they never thought they could afford or do themselves.
Here are a few comments I've received:
"I was feeling horrible about the amount of money I was spending on a natural bouquet ($225) just for my bouquet, which will die the next day. You motivated me to do something that will last for years…Thank You Jessica, from a bride on a budget."
"Hi, Jessica, I fell head over whenever I first saw the jeweled bouquet. But there was no way I was going to pay $800.00 for a freaking jeweled bouquet. Nonetheless, I found YOU. You are heaven-sent. Love your video. I want my wedding bouquet to look like yours. Thanks for the help."
Another way I've connected with women is through my beauty and fashion reviews. In today's economy, no one wants to spend money on items they'll dislike or never use. That's why so many women (including myself) will often search for reviews from reliable sources to see if the item they're interested in is right for them. This is especially true when it comes to purchasing luxury designer goods.
Here is a comment I received on my review of the Louis Vuitton Vernis Alma BB in Rose Angelique:
"Hi Jessica, thank you for such an amazing video, I couldn't keep my eyes off this beauty of a bag. I bought this Alma bb in Rose Angelique yesterday and like you immediately fell in love with it the moment I saw it. Apparently it was the last one in the store and they were not getting any more in! I immediately told her I wanted it! I am delighted with her."
Women also relate to videos from women who have dealt with the issues they're currently facing. Whether it's weight-loss struggles or skin conditions, women seek out testimonials and advice from those who have overcome similar battles. One of my most popular YouTube beauty videos is about the skin care products and routine I used to deal with hormonal acne. Although there are not many comments on this post, the numbers (over 3,500 video views) show me that this is an issue that a lot of women face and that they are in search of proven solutions.
Video content has truly revolutionized the way writers, bloggers, and brands connect with women. The interaction becomes much more personal and intimate when a creator is able to speak directly to their audience and visually illustrate the message they're trying to get across.
