Women Find Holiday Shopping Inspiration From Brick-and-Mortar Stores

For some, part of the magic of the holiday season lies in the hunt for the perfect gift. As part of the POPSUGAR Insights Q3 retail-apparel study, we wanted to explore this concept further to understand where women find inspiration for the apparel and accessory holiday purchases they make for friends, family, or peers.

Overall, 47% of women find holiday inspiration from a brick-and-mortar store. Forty-four percent of women find inspiration from listening to friends, family, or peers who are most likely dropping hints about what chic apparel brands and products they'd like to see wrapped for the holidays. Digital inspiration ranks third, with 42% of women saying they find inspiration from a blog or lifestyle website. Forty-one percent of women find inspiration in the glossy pages of a magazine, and 38% find inspiration via store or mail-order catalog. Finally, 31% of women said they find inspiration via their social media streams.
