Fall brings to mind sweaters, coats, and dressing in layers, so it might make sense that women spend more overall in the Fall and Winter seasons than they do in Spring and Summer, when less is more. As part of the POPSUGAR Insights Q3 retail-apparel study, we asked women to detail their apparel and accessory spending by season and by amount so we could identify which seasons women spend the most.
Overall, 44% of women said they spend over $300 in Fall and Winter seasons, as compared to 37% of women who spend over $300 in Spring and Summer. Looking at individual spending levels, women are more likely to spend over $500 in Fall (18%) and Winter (15%) as compared to Spring and Summer (13% apiece). Women were more likely to spend less than $100 in Spring (17%) than any other season and more likely to spend between $100 and $300 in Summer (50%) and Spring (46%) than Fall and Winter.
